15,000 steps a day / 30 days
My search for movement
My search for movement

I’m usually someone who doesn’t tend to stick with much that I believe could do me good like better food choices, jumping out of bed in the morning, or just silly little goals that I often have let fall to the side over time.
I no longer set New Years goals for losing weight or going to the gym so many times a week.
I have however decided on a challenge for myself of completing 15,000 steps a day for 30 days.
To be honest I first told myself if I could go 7 days I would be really proud that I’d done it.
Currently I am writing this on the morning of day 10, I’ve gotten 8 steps walking from my bed to my little corner desk that I’ve set up for mornings just like this.
8 steps. Wow. What an achievement. I’m kidding.
Sort of.
It is true that 8 steps will turn into 9 and so on and eventually lead my to 15,000 by sometimes this evening as I never quite get as many as I would like while at work which is fair, I can’t spend my day just walking when I’ve got to sit and craft emails and Input data into spreadsheets.
I dream of a day that maybe I’ll have a standing desk and one of those little walking pads that I can take leisurely steps with that will all add up by days end.
Until then though, I walk more after work than before since work begins at 7am.
I’ll get into the realities of time in another post.
For now I’m happy to say I’ve kept up this goal/challenge for 9 full days so far and I’m really freaking proud of myself.
And, unlike many things I’ve attempted in the past I still feel totally capable and excited to go right through to the end.
Have you ever completed a step goal before? Let me know in the comments what you did.
So, I have 21 days of walking left in this challenge. It’s simple but not exactly easy. The time requirement is tricky at times and really makes one evaluate what they’re spending time on in a day.
Like, what’s important?
It’s still something I’m working on figuring out myself but the hours spent walking sure help the brain start putting the pieces together in an order that makes more sense.
Have you ever wanted to do a step goal?
So far I’d say do it and keep on stepping.
